The studio
Splash Logic is an independent studio making calm, fair puzzle games, founded in 2026 and based in Germany. Its first game is Kakuro.
Kakuro: short description
Kakuro is a number crossword, also known as cross sums. We prove every puzzle can be solved by logic alone, and its hints explain their reasoning instead of just filling in a square.
Kakuro: long description
Kakuro is a number crossword: fill the white squares with the digits 1 to 9 so every line adds up to its clue, with no digit repeating inside a line. Splash Logic's Kakuro differs from other apps in how its puzzles are made. We generate each one on a computer ahead of time, prove it has exactly one answer using two independent solvers, and prove a player can finish it with named solving techniques and no guesswork. We throw away any puzzle that fails either test.
That same machinery produces the game's hints. Because the app knows which technique applies at each step, a hint can name it and explain the reasoning, rather than revealing the answer. The game teaches seven techniques in order, one at a time, so a player who has never seen a Kakuro grid learns it by playing. Boards run from 5×5 to 9×9 and always fit the screen, with no zooming or scrolling, and there is a daily puzzle that starts easy on Monday and ends hard on Sunday.
